Reporting Complaints to Central Communications Center

Complaints concerning the delivery of services, safety, or security at a DJJ facility or program should be immediately reported to the Central Communications Center (CCC).

Bureau of Investigations:

All other complaints of waste, fraud, abuse, or misconduct should be reported to the Florida Inspectors General or directly with the Department of Juvenile Justice Office of Inspector General/Bureau of Investigations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote economy and efficiency in agency programs and operations, and to prevent and detect fraud and abuse;
  • Provide direction for and coordinating audits, investigations, and management reviews relating to the programs and operations of the agency;
  • Recommend corrective action concerning fraud, abuses, weaknesses, and deficiencies and report on the progress made in implementing corrective action;
  • Advise in the development of performance measures, standards, and procedures for the evaluation of agency programs; reviewing actions taken by the agency to improve program performance and meet program standards; and
  • Ensure an appropriate balance is maintained between audit, investigations, and other accountability activities.

Overview

Pursuant to Section 20.055, Florida Statutes (F.S.), Agency Inspectors General, each state agency is required to have an Office of Inspector General (OIG). The purpose of the OIG is to "provide a central point for coordination of the responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in government."
