Prevention Programs
Children in Need of Services and Families in Need of Services (CINS/FINS)
An adjudication status for a child or a family for whom there is no pending investigation into an allegation or suspicion of abuse, neglect, or abandonment; no pending referral alleging the child is delinquent; or no current supervision by the Department of Juvenile Justice or the Department of Children and Family Services for an adjudication of dependency or delinquency. A family in need of services is not an adjudicated status. The child must also:
• Have persistently run away from the child’s parents or legal custodians despite reasonable efforts; and/or;
• Be habitually truant from school, while subject to compulsory school attendance, despite reasonable efforts to remedy the situation; and/or;
• Have persistently disobeyed the reasonable and lawful demands of the child’s parents or legal custodian, and to be beyond their control.
Florida Network of Youth and Family Services, Inc.
The Florida Network of Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a not-for-profit statewide association representing agencies which serve lockouts/homeless, runaway, and troubled youth ages 10 to 17 and their families. The Florida Network of Youth and Family Services and the nonprofit community-based providers/agencies provide only non-residential services in seven of the largest urban counties in the state. Every judicial circuit has at least one Florida Network of Youth and Family Services provider. Every county has access to services and centralized intake. Services include: shelter, non-residential counseling, Case/Service Plan, Case Management Services, Adjudication Services, CINS Petition Process, Staff Secure Services, Physically Secure Services, and Case Termination.

PACE Center for Girls, Inc.
Practical Academic Cultural Education (PACE) Center for Girls is a Florida-based, nationally recognized not-for-profit organization that provides non-residential, prevention, intervention, and diversion services for at-risk girls and young women ages 12 to 17. PACE uses a comprehensive and holistic model that integrates social services, education, and career readiness in a safe, gender-responsive environment that reflects an understanding of the lives of girls and responds to their strengths and challenges.
Florida Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs, Inc.
Florida Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs, Inc. coordinates prevention services through their statewide network of Boys and Girls Clubs services for school-age youth. Florida Alliance of Boys & Girls Club SMART Program is designed to promote substance use prevention and avoidance of early sexual activity. The program helps young people develop better decision-making and refusal skills, become more assertive and recognize negative peer and media influences while empowering youth to excel in school, become good citizens and lead healthy productive lives. Florida Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs, Inc. manages afterschool and summer learning programming that engages state’s youth in fun, positive experiences to promote social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The objective of the program is to improve the lives of children by offering high-quality program services related to academic enrichment, mentoring, character development, and work and life readiness skills, building the necessary foundation for children to become successful in life.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Florida, Inc.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida, Inc., coordinates statewide prevention services through thirteen (10) Big Brothers Big Sister member agencies throughout Florida that provide community and site based mentoring services to youth between the ages of five (5) and seventeen (17) that have an incarcerated parent, guardian and/or sibling with a history of incarceration. The goal of Big Brothers Big Sister member agencies is to divert youth away from the juvenile justice system through Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs by providing youth and their families’ positive alternatives to delinquent behavior.
Prodigy Program
The Prodigy Cultural Arts Program: A Tampa Arts & Youth Demonstration Program follows a prevention and intervention research model program for children between the ages of 5 and 17. The objective of the program is to improve the lives of children and community based organizations can engage young people successfully in artistic endeavors, and through art instruction, affect the quality of life, the community functioning and the school performance of those youth. The objective of the program is to improve the lives of children by offering high-quality program services related to artistic instruction, case management for participants, program management, and character development.
