Law enforcement contacts the Juvenile Assessment Center or the PDC Coordinator to determine eligibility. If eligible, law enforcement reviews the prearrest delinquency citation with the youth and the parent and obtains signatures. Law enforcement then sends the citation to the PDC Coordinator who sends the citations to the State Attorney's Office for approval and requirements. The State Attorney's Office sends the approved citations to DJJ to review the citations and send them to the appropriate provider based on the youth's needs/offense.Misdemeanor offenses excluding those requesting restitution.  Battery offenses eligible with victim approval.

Program requirements include, but are not limited to, community service hours; payment of restitution, if applicable; classes established by the Department or the program; and intervention services indicated by a needs assessment of the youth, such as family counseling, urinalysis monitoring, and substance abuse and mental health treatment services.

* Pursuant to subparagraph 985.12(2)(b)1., F.S., "Offenses involving the use or possession of a firearm do not qualify for a prearrest delinquency citation program."
